Spider-Man 3 — U.S. Premiere

On April 30th, 2007, Greg and his Dad journeyed to the exotic land of Astoria in Queens for the premiere of SM3.

Why Astoria, you ask. Well, Spider-Man's alter ego, Peter Parker, is from Queens.

In the 14-theater Kaufman Astoria multiplex, Greg and his Dad found themselves in the same theater as Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man himself) and Rosemary Harris (Aunt May), James Franco (Harry Osborn) and Topher Grace (Venom).

After the movie, Greg and his Dad went around the block to the Kaufman Astoria Studio and the premiere party! They all but bumped into Sam Raimi (the director of all three Spider-Man films), and introduced themselves to him. He was very nice, and Greg asked, "Are you going to do No. 4?" Sam replied, "You know, I'm so frazzled having just finished this, I'm not sure." Greg replied, without hesitation, "Well, if you do, we'll be there."

After greeting Sam Raimi, Greg found a bank of Playstations off to one side of the party and played the new Spider-Man 3 Playstation — with one of the game's developers giving him tips!

Then our heros circulated the room, getting quite close to James Franco and Topher Grace but unable to pierce the crowds of young people around them. So . . .

They settled for a short but extremely nice chat with Robert Duvall! He even suggested a picture of him and Greg -- and here it is! (Cell phone camera in very bad light, what can you do?)
